1973 Southeast Asian Tours

"OY OY!"

Little Queenie
It's All Over Now (LA Benefit and 2 Honolulu shows only)
Route 66 (LA Benefit only)
Stray Cat Blues (LA Benefit only)
Live with Me (LA Benefit only)
No Expectations (LA Benefit only)

'Silver Train' is alledged to have been played on this tour, prior to the release of 'Goat's Head Soup', but I have yet to hear any recording or see any substantive evidence of it (they did play it at a couple shows at the beginning of the fall 1973 Europe tour, but it was considered to be too similar to 'All Down the Line' and was dropped).

1972 U.S. Tour

There were several gems attempted on stage once in some cases, twice or three times in others, then dropped. These include 'Ventilator Blues', 'Torn and Frayed' (both once each in Vancouver on the first night of June 3rd) and 'Loving Cup', which was kept in the set list for the next few dates on the west coast. Surprisingly they played 'Honky Tonk Women' only once on the tour as an encore in L.A.. Chuck Berry's 'Don't Lie to Me', 'Dead Flowers' and 'Sweet Black Angel' were attempted once each (and never again on the tour) for the filming of Ladies and Gentlemen The Rolling Stones' in Fort Worth (click image below to hear 'Sweet Black Angel' live):

'Hip Shake' was among several other Exile tracks rehearsed in Rotterdam and (mid-tour in preparation for filming) Dallas, but only those mentioned above made it to the stage. The aforementioned performance of 'Sweet Black Angel' in Fort Worth, Texas later in the tour (June 24) was presumably to celebrate Angela Davis' (about whom it was written) release from prison on June 4th.

1971 UK Tour

There are only a couple tunes not played at every date and therefore not included on every bootleg recording of this tour. The rarest of these is a single performance of 'Wild Horses', on the second date of the tour only. There is no known recording of this performance, and 'Wild Horses' did not appear again until the 1975 Tour of the Americas.

1970 European Tour

The greatest secret of this tour is the displacement of 'Carol' from the previous year's U.S. Tour with another Berry classic, 'Roll Over Beethoven'. There are a number of poor to fair audience recordings of this out there: the best recording is an FM broadcast in Paris, the best performance is Essen, Germany (available as a good audience recording). Here is the best combination of audio and video:
